Steel Support or Structural Steel Support?
Although the terms sound similar, they have distinct technical meanings. Steel support is a general term for any steel component that carries a load. In many cases, these components are made from non‑structural steel and may not have verified mechanical properties.
A structural steel support, however, is an engineered load‑bearing component manufactured from certified structural steel—steel produced and tested to Australian Standards with known mechanical performance. A steel support can be classified as a structural steel support if it has been assessed by a professional engineer or complies with a prescriptive Australian Standard.
At Largo Engineering, you don’t need to determine which category your project falls into. Simply tell us what you need your steel component to do, and we’ll guide you to the correct solution.
