Pipe Support
Industry - Building & Construction
Use - Rainwater tank
Problem Definition:
Thin-walled steel rainwater tanks with internal liners make affixing PVC pipes a difficult task due to the risk of puncturing the lining
Unsupported PVC pipe can sag or bend potentially reducing flow efficiency and placing undue stress on connectors and glued joints leading to leaks
Affixing pipe to the top of a tank not only poses a puncture risk to the lining, but can make it difficult to remove the strainer cover to clean the strainer
The use of first flush diverters adds further complexity to achieve adequate support
Solution:
Design, manufacture and install a low-cost galvanised steel support system which offers vertical and horizontal fixing points for the pvc pipe and first flush diverter, with no tank penetrations
Suspend horizontal pipe above the top of the tank to allow final bend removal (not glued - fixed with screw). With final bend removed, disassembly of strainer cover for strainer cleaning can be easily undertaken
